Pajero 4x4 Super Select Flashing lights

Hi everyone.

I have a 2000 3.5 V6 petrol Pajero exceed. I am currently trying to diagnose the dreaded flashing lights many pajero owners face at one stage or another. I have read plenty of blogs to help but still no joy so thought I would list everything I have done and see if anyone can help. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated so many thanks in advance.

Right then,

-I have checked all the wiring to as many of the switches and solenoids as I can get to. Basically all of them and all the wiring and connectors seem fine.

-The 2 electrical solenoids under the bonnet on the R/H inner arch both have battery voltage going to them and produce 46 ohms of resistance which I believe is approx correct. The yellow vacum pipe out of the solenoid has constant vacuum regardless of where the super select lever is. In my general mechanical knowledge as you switch from 2H to 4H this should give vacuum at the blue side and not the yellow??

-Checked all the metal and rubber vacuum pipes feel and look fine with no holes or rusty/perished pipes.

-The vacuum Can is clean and rust free and I cannot feel or hear any leaks there.

-I have also swapped the yellow and blue vacuum lines over on the actuator and the shaft moves freely as it should.

-I have also sprayed all of the connections and made sure they are all clean.

And that is as far as I have gone but don't know what to check next. The lights that are flashing are the 2 front green lights when selecting 4H are the front 2 green lights and centre diff lock orange light when selecting 4HLC and the same 3 when selecting 4LLC

Someone please help.

I hope you have fixed it by now but if not replace the vacuum solenoids they are the biggest cause for a fault like this. Just because the coil has the correct ohms and is receacing the correct voltage this does not mean it actuating.

Good luck

How long do the lights flash? My old NL Pajero used to go for ages before finally the 4WD lights would stay steady on. $WD needs to be selected often and then it will go into 4WD quickly. I used to engage 4WD probably at least once every 3 weeks, and it used to work OK. If I didn't do this, it used to take ages to engage. My new Pajero is similar - it doesn't engage 4WD properly immediately. Remember that if you are driving on a sealed road, it may take a long time because the front wheels will travel futher than the rear wheels (as you go round corners etc), and front & rear have to be synchronised before 4WD can engage. Also, whatever you do, don't engage 4HLC (4WD with centre diff lock engaged) on a hard surface or the whole traqnsmission will wind up and you may break something, but i am sure you knew that already.
