FJ40 SOA conversion - Can it be MOD plated or not ?

Uber gurus.........

Just bought a sick FJ40 to be used as spares for a current project.. Problem is the poor bloke I bought it off didn't know what it was. No rust (drivers foot well only...seriously), straight as body, it's in mint condition.

So my problem is now I want to take all the parts of my '74 (that fit) and get this new one registered instead.

My dilema is........... Can a spring over conversion get mod plated these days or not ?????

If not, am I going to be able to put the old suspension back in without costing a shit tin ??

It's even had the front shackle reversed too....

I will post pics tomorrow night.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

HJ47 owner here
Shackle reversal can be done
Only way is that the eye of spring remains as
same distance off chassis as before modification

Soo original has shackle at front
After mod shackle is at rear.
The shackle has to be setup like the old school hilux
Where the shackle is bolted through the chassis (hilux) landcruiser is bracket.
Engineer i chatted to said this is the only way.

I have been in a vehicle with said mod above and it drives straight as and handles HIGH speed very well.
Other option is a panhard rod like on a patrol or coiled cruiser

not sure if relevant but you dont say what state you are in? I think i recall seeing some SOA 40's approved in tas,and at one time nsw... definately not allowed in qld.. but if you are serious best bet is to find an approved person in your state and ask them direct.
