I just bought a second hand shaft / double cardin joint of a lux for $100 (suposidly in good nic). Then I found out that it would cast me a further $250 to fully reco it (as it wasn't in good nic). So $360 later I have a good cardin shaft. I guess its buyer beware. The worst thing is you can't really tell the condition untill you get the shaft and bolt it in place and test it or wobble it up and down.

you need to drill the 80 series front output flange but the length is close. - the uni joint flange pattern is rectangular but the doube cardan pattern is square. you could live dangerously and go with just 2 bolts I spose.
these are often just lying around on the ground at the local wreckers, probably under $50 with a bit of haggling.

Is it possible to put a lux flange on the front diff?? Might be the easiest conversion.

the front diff has a lux style flange already doesn't it? it's only the transfer case end where you put the DC joint that needs drilling I think. I know we played this game a few months ago and I test-fitted a DC shaft in there - I am pretty sure teh diff end bolted up ok but the transfer end needed drilling for the wider DC joint flange.
