wondering about the difference between a 2 1/4 exhaust system compared to a 2 1/2 exhaust on a tb42 (with extractors)? i have heard that if you go to a 2 1/2 that you lose a bit of torque? Any benefits/need for the 2 1/2?

I've got Genie extractors and a 2 1/4 exhaust. I was told by the exhaust guys, Ringwood Performance Exhausts, 2 1/4 was optimum for the TB42.

Mild steel extractors will set you back around $435-490 mark, pipe size either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2.

Personally I'd go the 2 1/2 pipe with a matched muffler. Sports mufflers come in many sizes most common is 2-3 inch.

Prices will vary from dealer to dealer whole lot should be around $6-700 for a 2 1/2 inch.

Speak to a mechanic first at a performance shop. Don't take the word of the sales guy selling you the stuff who gets his info from a brochure.

So what was the consesus ? 2 1/4 or 2 1/2? or perhaps a bit of both ? 2 1/2 from the manifold , coming down to 2 1/4 halfway through ??
