Dual transfer 40 series split case

Hey outers,

Looking into a dual transfer for my 45 series ( late model split case). I haven't been lucky enough to be able to find a supplier as of yet. I have done a few searches here and on other forums, which does provide good info but no actual suppliers and no one who has bought a kit for the 40. That and most of the post are 5+ years old now.

So has anyone bought a kit and fitted this? Looking at marlin they say it's on the way but no actual listing. Marks 4x4 adaptor have emailed advance adapters for me, and I have also sent an email to low range off-road as once again there site doesn't have a listing.

Any recent information of who has done this mod and how they went about it would be very much appreciated.

P.s local supplier or manufacturer would be prefered if at all possible.

Cheers

Only options I know of are:
- Toybox from Marlin for the H55F, I know of two units in OZ, Zoltan had one (i think) and another was installed into a family friends vehicle in Melb (again a bit vague so could be wrong)
Reduction gears from marks:
- They used to do a 66% reduction for the transfer case, - Think these were marks adapter gears.
- You may find other options when looking at lower low range replacement gears from Trailgear or similar

Not a lot out there for late model split cases. Most completely change gearbox and transfer for somethng else (eg: rangie, LT230?) for better reduction.

why do you want dual cases? What are you planning to use the vehicle for? I had marks adaptors reduction gears in the transfer on my shorty and was pretty happy with them. From memory they offered a range of hi and low gear options to choose from.

looking at being a little more race ready. at the moment I am running a supercharged 5ltr and whilst it is nice and powerfull it needs a few more revs than I would like in low. after some careful consideration I and driving with a mate with dual transfer i came to the conclustion it is the right option for me because.
1. my truck is street registered and I do like the speed and power in 2wd. great on the high way.
2. High and Low are good for speed stages in those little tricky bits.
3. Dual transfer would give me an advantage in the really tech stages against the bigger trucks.

I feel it gives me the best compromise overall, rather than putting in reduction gears and only having the one (two with high range) option.

let me know if you think this is a valid reason. :finger:

I think one problem with duals in a 40 would be drive line length. Your rear shaft will be getting very short and uni joints will be dealing with increased angles. May not be a problem, but worth looking at.

try searching Ih8mud.com, the yanks luuuurve their 40s, this will be a well trodden path over there.

Hey thanks shorty,

Have also heard of a bundera matched up to a hilux setup. Yet to do some further hunting into this as it seems there maybe some custom adapters to be made
