Hey guys,
Got a GQ 4.2 Diesel wagon.
Also got a spare transfer box out of a TB45. (no idea which model)
Any differences in the gearing between the 2.
I am assuming all shafts and chain would be identical.

I want to replace my 4.2 Diesel gears with the Tb45 gears ONLY due to having a stuffed bearing in my transfer case.
Basically need to know if I can R&R all the running gear from the TB45 into my TD 4.2 case
Cant use the TB45 casing as its damaged. But everything inside is in perfect condition.

Thanks in advance guys.
Ange

UPDATE on what I have found out...
there is external differences between GQ and TB45 transfer cases just for those who like to know.
Only found this out this morning while trying to compare the 2 and found out the following.....
These are things I KNOW are different so far....

1: the electrical switches are located in different places to the GQ's.
2: the TB45 has 1 extra screw in swicth than the GQ's have.
3: The gear lever on the T/F case is different to GQ. Easy fix though as the actual shaft it connects to is located in same place and is the same size shaft. ( so your GQ selector rod will bolt on).
4: All internal ratios are same as GQ's.

These are things people think are different (not 100% sure its factual)...

1: 2 people have mentioned that the TB45 T/F box has 1 BIGGER bearing inside.
No idea if that's true but if it is then I cant use my GQ case as the bearing wont fit If its one that sits in the alloy housing.

Reason why I need to use my old case is....
The T/F case off the TB45 has a broken speedo housing in the case which I cannot get out. Also on the front of the T/F box where the shaft connects with the back of the gearbox, there is another cover plate on that which seals the front shaft and that is damaged around the edges of the alloy and i want it replaced with my one just incase.

So if there IS a bigger bearing in the TB45 T/F box I need to know where it is.
if its making contact with the rear case (the one before the brake drum assembly) then I need to use the TB45 one. If its located INSIDE the box It wont cause me any problems as I wont be opening that up.
So if anyone out there who knows, can confirm a bigger bearing does exsist in the TB45 box can you let me know exactly where that bearing is located please.
