yeah i've got a 2000 model prado, goes better than my parents 1990 stock diesel lux off road, but there arent many options if you want to modify one. Thats why i'm going to swap it with my parents hilux at the end of the year because you can do more with them.

Oh, I just read that Auto Alliance (Rancho have done a great suspension kit for the Prado.

I was also reading a Aust. 4WD Monthly mag last night and this guy has put a locker in the rear and big tyres and it looks awsome.....

I don't want it for 100% rock crawling, i want it for touring some rock crawling and mainly bush tracks & bog holes etc......

I was considering buying a Pajero until the editor of the above magazine said the 1998-2001 Prado's are and excellent choice for me.

Thanks for your input! :)

a rear locker, ranchos and big tyres would be sweet

when you said "modify" i was thinking more than just suspension and tyres.

i'd agree with the prado being better than the pajero, my mate has one and cant get up half the hills i can.

any way here's a vid of my prado that might interest you. The first section in a mate comeing down the hill in his cruiser, then the next 2 are me heading up the hil, and the last one is just a steep flat sandy hill climb (watch out for the fart :? ).

By the way my prado is still a stock standard 2.7ltr with highway terrains (saving all my money for modifying the hilux)

I have a stock '98 Prado running highway tyres that are just about dead. Can't fault it. Got up some good stuff at Avoca last year. Only thing stopping me were the tyres. No grip! Any suggestions on good 16 inch tyres that won't bankrupt me?

I have a 70 series Prado, not quite the same as most you see on the roads though.

I also know a few people with the 95 series Prado & the 120 Series who have done some mods.

What sort of modifications are you looking to do.

I am sure that you will find the 90scool_aus group or 120scool group will be satisfying (depending on which you are after)
