FRONT SHAFT PROB

Just wondering what other fellow S/O 60 drivers are using for a front shaft? Reason being that at full downward travel ( about 12 inches )the front shaft binds up. I have reversed the front shaft, I have modified the X-member about 30-40 mm for clearence but still at full downward travel it binds on the uni a just touches the X-member.
I dont want to change the suspension if i can help it.

Maybe you could put a wedge shim between the spring pac and diff This should point the diff pinion up towards the t/case a little more.

You need more than a wedge , you need to rotate the front diff and rotate the nuckles and perches back to stock

Thats not the problem because it's already been done. The pinion faces slightly above the transfer and the knuckles have been rotated and it drives great, but it's just that the shaft binds in the uni at full articulation.

Is it a double cardin joint and does it hit on the x member or just has to much angle at full drop?

It's just a standard shaft and was wanting to know the best and easy way to fix this prob

to do it with ordinary uni joints, you have to point the diff up way past the transfer output to "share" the angle between the two joints most effectively - see dodgy sketch. to do it better, use a hilux doube cardan joint at the transfer case end, with the diff pointed more or less directly toward the transfer case flange. you may be able to achieve this using castor wedges without mucking up your castor angle too badly. alternatively it might mean cutting and rotating your knuckles and spring perches again to get it right.

the hilux double cardan joint can handle far greater angles than the 60 series joint and is just as strong.

Know where I could get one of these hilux double cardans??? would like to put one on mine to eliminate that prob as well...
