gq front end articulation

Just got a 90 petrol auto gq, took it for a wheel and found the front end doesn't flex anywhere near the back does with that magic swapbar disconnect, any ideas as to how to increase front end flex, seems the bump stops stop it from flexing? must say though from driving a 60 the gq does everything so much easier and auto rocks!!!

with the swapbar disconnect if I lift it 4 or more inches will that cause a prob with the swapbar disconnect?

front suspension is only 3 link, back is 5 link. The front axle binds up on articulation, some people fit 5 links to overcome this problem, 3rds production control arms also an option or some remove the front bolts of the arms(not sure how this affects steering and strength and safety). Probably not the bumpstops limiting the travel though.

Its swaybar.

And yes, 4inch lift you throw the swaybars. you dont have to, but defeats the purpose if you dont.

If yours is pushing the front bump stops youre doing well. Normally they dont do that.
Longer front shocks, extending sway bar links, soft long springs, removing sway bar will all help without resorting to major mods. generally they wheel quite well for 90% of people with the standard front end.

Welcome to my world... :?

But honestly the president of my 4wd club has a LWB GQ with 6" coils and 7 degree castor plates.. And the front works fine. Not as much as the rear though.

I have 4" coils and 5.5 degree castor plates in my shorty and I got close to nuffin - a bit but not much... flex that is....

What bazzle said is true though 90% of people are fine with how there front end works. I am just concentrating on how to drive the thing and then getting dual lockers..

But if ya money is burning holes in ya pockets there are things you can do....

Why the need for mass flex in the front :?: The pic of the tray has got good usable flex but still stable enough to drive at speed. Im sick of people coming in wanting to win Tuff Truck on the ramp then win Outback challenge, (People its not gunna happen). The more flex in the front the more loose the rig will be. We build 5 links that flex well and drive well but wont win TTC ramp but you can still drive to Safway to do your shopping. We also build 5 links that flex there ass off but are more weekend warrior rigs and rock comp rigs. Im not trying to talk anyone out of a 5 link or the like but stop to think do I realy need to spend bucket loads of cash for something that I realy may not need or spend it on something that may help me more like lockers or tyres ect.
Anyone wants to talk about 5 links, A frames ect give me a buzz or PM me here 0397618111.

I was just curious as to why, if it's designed that way so be it, my wife and baby have to drive it as a daily driver so it has to be safe, I was thinking more along the lines of 4 inch spring lift keeping the swaybars and the factory disconnect and putting some quick disconnects in the front, where in sydney is the best place to locate a 4inch lift maybe ranchos (peoples opinion on these) 3 deg offset bushes for the best price?

get tuff dog shocks. they are truck shocks re-valved for a 4by. they arent ever going to break. and they are 9 way adjustable.

ranchos will be long gone before these puppies (excuse the pun) even look like wearing.

i know a bloke with a GQ wagon with these shocks, 4 inch lift, it handles like a race car.
