Outer Limits 4x4 Board

We bought this rig for parts use only/
It is a LWB L28 Petrol MK Patrol, late 84'.
Has power steer, aircon, motor is siezed. Panels OK, Rust in body, complete interior, engine bay, driveline, suspension etc. Divorced Transfer.

Shawn and i Picked it up and towed it the 2 streets away from my place it was on Monday night last week. We Dumped it down the back of my place till friday morning when we both could get a day off.

We started at 7.30, had an hour and a half break at lunch, then kept going and got it all packed up by 9pm. Just the 2 of us.

The main tools we used:

- Rattle Gun
- 9 Inch Angle Grinder
- Big Farker Hammer
- Sockets, screwdrivers
- And a Back Hoe along with its Big ass Scoop for compacting things neat

After the First 1-2 Hours

The Interior was intake with seats galor and loads of crap and glass and rubbish in there before u ask......

Next We disconnected everything very hurridly as we didnt need to use half of it again, ripped the body bolts off, and cut the side B pillar and cut the rear window out of its home.

Then we did the funnest bit of the day

Once Lifted I drove off and dumped the body around the front of the house narroly avoiding a couple of trees and the pump house......................... Forgetting that the car is far wider than the backhoe and the road.....
Its all good i only hit a few branches

Heres some pics of the good parts.

We Then Striped the chassis apart, dumped the motor for Giffo to come and get later for parts, and lifted the box, shafts and divorced transfer out, and droped the fuel tank.

The we used that big angle grinder again and cut the chassis into a coupla parts.
Shawn ( ozy1 ) wanted the front steering, spings and diff etc. so we just cut behind the main cross member and he took the whole front end minus the power steer which is mine
The other 2 sections of chassic ended up dumped and in the trailer with the rest of the crap left over

Have a look at the pic labelled " Scraps ", There is a tube cross member there for strength on the LWB just behind where the transfer case sits and This cross member is exactly the way the trackbar crossmembers are biult.

Basically after the chassis was striped and cut and out of the way i went and got the body, we then cut the engine bay off, then the roof and sides, then removed the windscreen and put a cut down the middle and folded it over and used the backhoes large scoop and slamed it down on the pile of metal a few times till it was relitevily flat and droped it all in the trailer. THAT WAS FUN!!!!

Then we took our parts a seperate ways, put a pile of left over good bits aside for Giffo to nab and called it a night after a long cleanup.......

mate, it was a good effort i tell ya, would recomend evryone doing what we did and spend 12 hours having a ball, if the nut/bolt doesnt move grind it, if a panel is in the way, hit it, if ya wanna change spark plugs, it would be easier this way!!!!

If a driverside rear door doesnt open to get it off, Get inside and keep kicking it and kicking it till ya give up and get a 8 foot long crow bar and bent that prick of a thing and force the lock to snap

cut the crossmember out .... ( take some chassis with it ) and send it on down

Looks like fun ..... pity you didnt have a yota handy for more carnage

Goddamn I really wanna do this one day, even if there are no parts I want on the sacrificial vehicle.

A mate and I once chopped an old fairlane in half with an axe (except for some harder re-enforcing type bits on chassis)

That was fun, we didn't like the axe either....
