I believe there are two kinds, though they have identical ratios.

One has an integral bellhousing (all one cast), the other has a more conventional bellhousing + gearbox setup.

But I'm just repeating what I've heard here.

From what I have heard they are all basically the same, with the only exception being the later (92+) have double cone synchros (whatever that is). Which makes them shift better.

Never heard of a integeral bellhousing before. Also they are the same diesel/petrol. Just a differnt bellhousing.

When i inquired about a S/H gearbox there was no mention of different types and ended up with a low milage imported box off a safari (overseas GQ). Also it came with bellhouseing and transfercase.

My jap import one did. As I have a PTO winch. And when it was fitted they made no mention of pulling the gearbox apart to change it over.

The RB30 & 2.8 turbo deisel have differnt gearboxes. Very similar to the Skyline unit. They have an intergral bellhousing which means it cant be separated from the gearbox like the heavier duty units in the 4.2 litre variety.
