Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Allright Melbourne guys, i've just removed my tow bar and i need one of these: see pic below. I've already tried my local 4x4 wreckers but thay didn't have any. Does anyone have one lying round or know where i can get one? BTW are they a standard size, i mean for the bolt spacing? It's to fit a Pajero..

hall 4x4 barrys road bayswater had a heap of them in a box on the shelf when i was there on wednesday collecting a bit for my 40

There is an aftermarket one that fits into those bolt holes. Sparky has one on the rear of his GU ute (pretty sure the boltholes are the same). Try giving On Track in keilor a ring, thats where he got his from. I think.

That looks like a NIssan patrol one.
The chassis holes they go into have been known to fail under snatching on Pajeros and are not recommended on Patrols.

What else could i use? My tow bar isn't a hitch receiver style. I thought one of these eye points would be better that putting a shackle othrough the tow ball hole..

got loads of them at work, we take them off and tip them as thay can tend to pull out

what u can do is get two bits of angle iron, weld then togeather and put on a 10000lbs recovery hook,

The bolt pattern is shared with a standard pintle hook. I tend to feel these are much safer than a loop and a shackle as a) they are 15 tonne rated and b) eliminate the shackle.

Pintles are available from ARB with and without an attached tow ball.

I can't comment of chassis strength at the mount, however, pretty much every japansese 4WD I saw in Vietnam had what looked to me like a factory pinte hook in this location, including 100 series cruisers.

Please excuse my ignorance, what's a "pintle"?

Army style tow hitch... you see them on the back of telstra vans... hook and set up, correct me if im wrong?

If you get 4WD Monthly, Chris Tierny has one on the back of his hilux

Then you cant use a pintle.

Tour tongue hole should be OK with a rated D shackle. Itll be held on with 2 Big bolts.

the good ones that are rated to 15t would be the ones that bolt to the chassis wouldnt they? I have one at home and my cruiser has holes that fit it in the chassis from the factory allready. I wont put it on but as it would stuff my departure angle

I took the tow bar off because it keeps digging into the ground when going up a steep incline, which is why i wanted to replace it with the loop attachment.. i'll post a pic of the set up when i get home from work..

like I said I don't use the one I have for that very reason. I have hooks under the chassis that way they don't affect departure angle

EDIT: Whilst i was out taking some pics, i've discovered that there are points on each rail of the chassis for attaching recovery hooks. Maybe i should've looked first So i'm going to get some of them and be done with it. Thanks to everyone for their input.
