Hi all,I have noticed the last few days that when I start my td42 in the morning after it has sat for 12hrs or so,I am getting a small pool of diesel forming under the engine bay.It appears from looking up from under the car as though the leak is definately coming from around the injector pump.I realise that there are probably many possible causes but any info would be appreciated.Have heard some horror stories about injector pump work and associated costs.Whats a complete recon pump worth?.Thanks

There is an o ring around the top plate of the pump which leaks. Only cost my old man about 80 bucks to fix. Check all the obvois things first like flexible hoses and such for cracks as well as steel pipes for tightness.

Well I will know for sure in the mormning but the early signs are that I have repaired the leak.It appeared to be coming from a small diamond shape plate located on he drivers side bottom of the pump.Removed the 2 screws holding on the cover and exposed a diaphragm and an o-ring seal.Removed the o-ring and it all looked ok,replaced the o-ring and placed a small/thin smear of silicone over o-ring and onto cover plate and re-assembled.Have tried to get it to leak but cannot as yet.It was worse upon first start in the morning though after sitting for 10-12hrs.But as stated the early signs look good.Every one I spoke with said it would be the top cover o-ring but not in this case.

hope for your your sake that silicon does not get into the pump, word of advise never put any sealent after the filter as there are micro size passagways to get blocked

I would has at a guess that the o-ring was about 20-25mm diameter.Yes I was very careful with the silicone.I applied it to the o-ring and cover away from the pump and then let it set semi hard before reassembly.
