Looking at getting a budget Zook

Hi guys,
I am usually a regular on the Radio Control section of this forum, but I've been on here a couple of times with some pics of my GV SWB. I have since sold that due to lack of $$$$. I have been playing around with the RC versions, but am missing the thrill of full scale 4wding. My brother recently bought a 92 WT Sierra and is convincing me to get one as a budget toy. I have'nt told the wife yet, but I wanted some instructions on what I can get on a budget and what homemade/cheap mods I can do myself or buy really cheap! I eventually want to run 31's or 32's muddies. It won't be a daily driver so it does'nt have to be pretty. Any help would be great!!!!

Mine wouldn't even owe me 8k........................yet

For the ultimate budget beater I'd put the $$ to a 6:1, weld the rear, fit 31's with a body lift and some slight cutting.

Thanks Steve,
My budget to start with is about $2000 to buy a truck & then whatever I can spare or sell something to get started on mods. It will be a slow build up.
Thanks for your help! I plan on welding up the rear diff! And either making extended shackles or buying some. I have some shocks left over from my Vitaras, so I plan on using them!

Mine has cost me about 4k in parts but due to the original cost of the car it has cost me over 10k.
Body lift is cheap if you make the blocks yourself.
Extended shackles cheap made at home
Shocks off second hand car (moose can step in now)
Ajust spring rate and clamps
second hand mudders say 31's or even retread 32 mongrels
Rims
Remove sway bar
Loose weight
Weld rear
and like bigsteve has said S3 whick costs about $1249+ install
Start with say 3K car spend 2- 2.5 and you will have the above for 5k

do a body lift. you can buy a metre of nylon tube for around 50 bucks and you will only need 10 i think.
build your car to what you want to drive, if you are doing rock then get low range reduction gears, mud - go for better tires. and so on.

Thanks heaps guys for your input, they sound like great ideas that I can do either myself or with instructions from you lot!
All I have to do now is convince the other half that it's cheap & a good idea!

That's so funny, I may try the old flower trick! She'll see right through me, but worth giving it a go!
