Turboing a 4y? Laugh it up!

This is gonna sound like a waste of effort i know, and what tool would buy a petrol hilux anyway!! Ha, First 4x4, learnt my lesson for next time!
But.......
As a short term measure to stop me bashing my head against the steering wheel out of sheer frustration and rage from having a car that wont even hold 100 in a head wind, i thought about maybe turboing it. Nothing wild, just run low boost (6-8 psi) just so it will hold speed, and not slow down to 60 up hills on the highway! I have a brand new turbo of a 2.3l saab, and wouldnt be too hard to get it plumbed up, just wanna know if anyone has turboed a 4y before, or has any thoughts? Engine is brand new, so would i possibly have issues with too much compression? Its only done about 900ks. anyway, if anyone has any thoughts please let me know. Just thinkin this is the cheapest way to do what i want it to do.

richard at 4x4 engineering in qld 07 3344 1181 had a turbo'd 4Y in his x-cab hilux, i am pretty sure he took the turbo off
, anyway the thing with 33's used to run away from my 4 runner 2L diesel with 31's on hills

A guy in Townsville was racing a turboed petrol bobtail runner, still a 4 banger, but I'm unsure of the motor designation.

i assume if you are running a cooler it is injected. On my hilux I put a draw thru turbo on (3y) and within the week it shat itself. the compression is at 8.8:1 on these engines and im guessing a seperated mix from the turbo and this compression caused its death. sold the turbo for $200 more than i bought it and started the conversion for a higher displacement engine. i know how you feel with the lack of power from the y series tho. foot to the floor wherever you go.

Only reason i am looking at this is because the car has a brand new motor in it. dont wanna throw away $3300's worth of work. I bought the car with a brand new motor in it and i died after about 4500ks, so i just got another new motor under warranty, cost $900 to get it put in, plus the donk is worth $1600, and i bought a new carby, dizzy, fuel pump and water pump for it in the last 2 weeks. So i thought the logical thing would be to look at what i can do with whats in it.
Also i was told if i sold it and bought a 2.8D, i would be just as frustrated unless i got a turbo diesel. ahhhhhhh! dilemas!
thanks for the thoughts and advice

the turbo i bought came with all manifolds, its own turbo, oil and water lines with t pieces etc. cost 600 and it would practically bolt on and gained about 40 hp by my estimation. if you have a brand new engine and associated parts and you are only after a slight-moderate increase in power it may be an option. then again for less than 1200 like myself you can have a 6cyl under the bonnet.

Sell the motor while its still good. Buy a 3RZ current model 2.7ltr hilux motor. More grunt than you could ever want. Still the same rego and insurance and good fuel economy. They bolt straight in to with a small modification to the mounts.
After seeing Dave's(BeeBee) hilux(93? model) perform on the weekend i wouldnt fit anything else.

what about a 2.7, or 3.4 petrol out of a 96-03 prado?, these are the similar to the newer hilux engines.
