Anyone got any idea how much it would cost to overhaul the standard sierra carb (aisin)??

can order a complete new weber carby kit including adaptor plates fron redline in the states for US $195 +postage

Yeah but the webers have issues with flooding/starving on inclines & declines.

reco ya carby, ya wont believe how great it is, they are designed for offroad, whereas the weber isn't....but make sure ya fuel pump aint shagged, as the bits will block up ya new carb...and make sure ya tank is clean, drain a bit if possible, and run two fuel filters..I use an in line efi filter, and an extra normal inline filter after the fuel pump, to make sure.... otherwise the carb will sh*t up again (the idle jets too small, blocks easily) I bought a minor rebuild kit for $40 (2 days to work out where it all went, tho), but a major kit probly be better, christover

sorry for the thread hi jack,
but i have a 1.6L carby in my vitara, and was wondering if it was similar to the sierra ones. as in problems, and solutions.
i think vitaras have a mikuni carby.

Mine cost me $150 to be rebuilt.
My lil bro's cost $250 from the same place, it needed a few more bits replaced.

It ran a lot smoother, was worth the money.

dunno what happened there!! sorry guys!! does anyone know anywhere that does a carby rebuild kit for the sierra?? i remember seeing one somewhere on the net a while back but im not too sure if it was in aus or not.

I actually dropped mine off at suzi world in Melbourne, Mick there has a carby guy who does the rebuilds.

Just put a minor kit thru mine $40 adjusted the float level and now run a triple filter system 2 before the fuel pump and 1 after sick and tired of the crap that gets in it. Took it for a run on the weekend put it on angles that use to stall it went great, now to wait and see how my 3 filters go.

I find it helps to drain the fuel bowl occassionaly, mine is easy access, tho, because I changed the auto idle up stuff for a hand throttle. the access bolts for the jets, on rad end of carby, are good way to drain the float bowl. christover

PS I fitted a rebuilt SU 44mm and love it. Sometimes wish it had an accelerator pump, but it runs just so good on ant terrain, at any angle.
