Hi All,
Has anyone done the "strengthening of x-fer case mounts" process to their sierras? I'm getting one of those rockhopper 3 units and am trying to work out what needs to be done.
thanks,
Greg

12uke has all the info.
but basicly grind off the bolt studs from a stock mount and replace it with a bolt that goes all the way through the thing. I have broken 3 mounts with my series 1. RH

I broke the rubber T-case mount on last years Adventure Tour, with only a 1.o litre donk. I fitted a bolt right thru it as a get going fix. I would carry a spare, or upgrade the rubber bits also, christover.

I have broken mounting rubbers as well as mounting arms.
The long side arm is the unit most prone to breaking right beside where the 4 bolts go in.
I have boxed my arms (well triangulated) as well as adding some extra material to the inner arm.
As far as the mounting rubbers go, just carry spares, easier adn cheaper to replace than a broken transfer case housing.. I have found that a 500ml softdrink bottle wedged between the T/case and floor is a good get it home EMERGANCY repair if a mounting rubber breaks and you have no spare, maybe a 1.25 will work with a bodylift ..

I have broken heaps of these mounts and now carry spares. I also carry rope and wire to tie down the brackets if I don't have any mounts.
