Do tough Lada's exist, or is the term an oxymoron? If anyone has any pics or links, please post them here.

To answer this Question.
Do tough Lada Nivas exist? Yes
In Australia? No
Pretty simple as to why, some countries don't have the financial or vehicle options that we get in a place like Australia, so they are left up to their own means of going about things and seeing as Nivas are cheap, is a reason why they are used.
They really aren't that bad of a vehicle once the gremlins are removed from the electrical system which leads to them being unreliable, and the seats swapped for milk crates to improve interior comfort.
Just to throw another picture in.

That new one looks good. If it comes to OZ I may be a second time Lada owner one day!
Anyone know what happened to that Lada in the back of the shed at ORI? It had big diffs and 44 inch (don't quote me but they big muthas) swampers.
Looked like a long term project.
Josh.

You'll notice most of the tough ladas have been set up for snow and ice wrok... exactly the sort of stuff they're designed for in the first place.
I'd love to see a sierra on big rubber cope in the same conditions

at the moment i'm looking at putting a lada transfer case in my hilux. from what i have read their pretty bullet proof and cheap. the problem that i have is negotiating the hilux front tail shaft output. the lada tranny's have twin shift stick which will make it interesting in the cabin with 4 sticks to chose from. the other option is a gq auto tranny. i could by the marlin adaptor but that wouldn't be as much fun to engineer.
