Nissan 4 or 5spd in 68 2a

Post by Boxhead »

My brother has a 68 2a long wheel base with a 186 holden motor . can anyone give their opinion on that conversion, marks 4wd adaptors used to do these conversions.Have been told that with this conversion and a rear salsbury diff will stop gear box and axle breakages, is this true? Boxhead.

I had the Marks 5sp Nissan box in a 2a. It was originally fitted with a stroked 253, but later changed to a 186. Was matched up with S111 Stage 1 rear diff (3.54). This combination was unreal, never had any rear axle, rear diff or transmission problems.

The rear salisbury diff is basically a Dana 60 with smaller axles. Should have no problems.

Gearbox - check oil regularly, should be no problems otherwise. I know of one failure of a gearbox in this conversion for this reason.

Pity about the holden engine though... :D
