hi guys...

back to the font of all knowledge again.

have rewired the truck.. FJ40... tiz now legal on the road as of today!!!!
problem.. i never really figured out how to wire up the fuel guage... and ran out of fuel today.

anyone point me in the right direction? bit worried i will stick a live 12volt wire under my seat!!!

The sender in the tank normally works like a variable resistor, the resistance changes with the fuel level. You should just need to hook it up to the wire from the fuel guage in the instruments (??)

I'm with Murcod. Increasing resistance commonly indicates less fuel, if this helps.

It's not uncommon for the signal to pulse - don't understand why, but don't be disturbed if you notice this.

expanding on what murcod said:

12V +ve to the guage.
from the guage to the sender
from the sender to the ground (-ve)

i have rewired the truck, you may reacall from other pleading threads.... so i couldnt remember. sounds logical now you have spelt it out. will have to figure out how it was earthed.
