Okay, want to fit some new tyres to my rig. It currently has some goodyear ats 265/75/16 on 16 x 8 alloys (4 of) and the tyres are stuffed.
1. Will 285/75/16 clear the front end
2. As it only has a split rim for a spare will need to get another 16 x 8 spare - are 5 stud available in a sunraysia?
3. What is a good price for a 285 BFG all terrain?
Cheers

1. No will scrub
2. Yes (make sure you get the same offset)
3. Expect to pay $270-90

Cheers for that MQ080. Does it just rub on the inner guard? Nothing coil spacers won't fix?

The problem isn't the "height" (Profile) of the tyre, rather the "width" in relation to the offset of the std rim. In other words it isn't that the tyre is a 32.8"approx rather that instead of being 235mm wide it is now 285mm wide at that width. That's why cheese cutters are so narrow, because they are tall they need to be. Where you could wack a set of 265/70R16 (31's approx) and the extra tread with doesn't matter because it's away from the guard by about .5"

Well it has 265/75 s on it now, is the 20mm going to make all the difference?
I appreciate what you say - the extra width in tyre size needs to be accompanied with a wider offset so as to not scrub.
But i want to run tyres the same height as originals so its travelling the same speed for the same revs as standard.

It is possible - at last. Thanks Nick.
The amount of confusion coming from tyre shops if pretty funny, no one seems to know?
Is that because of a lack of 79 series getting put on bigger rubber?
All I need is a conistent opinion then I am set
