washing the engine

if all turns out great, i should be getting a new 4b with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine.
Im sure you all know that the engine can get quite dirty after a few trips out in the bush, specially when going through mud. I was my petrol engine at the moment with degreaser and a high pressure hose, later coat it with some nice WD40 :)

anyway, i am a bit worrdied if i do this to the diesel engine, i will kill it. Never having one before and not knowing much about them only increases my fear. I know that water and these engines DONOT mix, so is there anything i should cover up? keeping in mind that this 4b has a snorkle, or should i change my washing methods?

spray the sh%t out of it, providing the snorkle is well sealed diesels are heaps more waterproof than petrol-no spark :) in theory providing they have a clean dry air they will run completely submerged

i think there is a vid under general discussion atm that shows one driving through real deep water-worth a look
