Does anyone know of a PTO winch with a driver's side input shaft. The cruiser ones i have seen have the input on the passenger side.

It's to go on my zook which i am running dual transfer cases on. I want to hook the PTO to the front output of the 1st xfer case. That comes out on the driver's side.

2 opions that may work.
1- turn winch upside down and fit. Problem would be that the enggage handle would be on the bottom at the front.
2- Turn winch around, and use the hand crank output for the pto shaft. This way will put the engage handle at the rear pass side and the hand crank bit on drivers side rear.
Not sure of what you can do to mod the hand crank bit, as mine is covered by the BBar.
But a mate who has a 75 ute has the hand crank accessable and I think this would work. The PTO we have is a Thomas 8000lb sold by Powerauto in Melb.
ANd mines on a GQ shorty.

What is this "hand crank" you speak of
And I'm not talking about the kind BJ is familiar with
I have a PTO on the 40 - will this have one ? Were does the handle go ?

I am having a look at a cruiser one on the weekend. It should be the same as the ones you guys are talking about.
I've been told that you can simply turn the worm gear around to face the other way. I was a little sceptical about this. If the other gear on the shaft can be turned around it might work, but i'm not holding my breath.
I'll be having a look to see if turning it around will work as turps suggested.
What's one of these worth btw?

I think that would work damo as the revolution of the front shaft is the OPPOSITE way to the PTO output on say a andcruiser for exampls
SO to run it off the front shaft, flipping it over is the best way to go about it,
modify the freespool, stock up on shear pins, and run it!

Go and have a look at factoria Pajero Pto i have seen 1 model that was what you want and for the shear pin talk to power auto they do a auto shear pin its the one the army use but smaller just to plates that have dimpiles and is spring loaded the more you wind the spring on the more pressure before lets go

The hand crank is like a speed brace, that goes on to a bolt like thing (similar to those old car jacks). Don't know what speed it winds at but expect it to be bloody slow. But would be good enough to right the car after you lay it down and the motor want run. Or if you break a shear pin so you can take the load off the cable.
I plan on going to power-auto in Dandenong on tues next week to have a look at the auto clutch thing which you guys reminded me of. So will have a better look at one that isn't stuck behind a BBar.
