im tossing up between gears or twin cases, are there any draw backs for the cases & are they worth the extra $?
does anyone make the adapters other the mark's adaptors?

dual cases - modify tailshafts and sucks without a bodylift.
transfer case gears - pretty straightforward bolt in.

Better yet......both!!
With a low gear set in one of the trans. cases, you could have low

(one case in high and other, with std low gears, in low)and low low

(std. case in high and case with low gears in low) + a super duper low

(both cases in low)
How cool would that be!!!

i have dual cases. marks kit. easy to install (just never ending niggly things)- same as gears basically. need to weld new shift linkage and lever inside case which needs to be accurate so it lines up in the selector gates.
no bodylift makes it hard to make new crossmembers above the cases. i just strengthened my original one and yet to fit a two piece front shaft.
most people fit a longer shaft and remove the orig crossmember, i don't like that as i feel the cases are not necessarly strong enough to hold the weight of the cases from non purpose designed castings especially when jumping the vehicle (taking mine in the obc). i can just picture the housing cracking after serious klms and corrogations
you get 2wd low range as well.
you need to cut away trans tunnel and widen it by an inch or so, and make new gear boots.
to do it right costs $3000 + for kit, 2nd case, 2x crossmembers @550 each 2x drive shafts at $130 each.
still not low enough either only 23% better than gears. with 39's it could be half as low again and still not be too low
cheers bru

Hay Bru, go air shift and you dont have to cut the tunnel just install buttons in the dash. I got 160 to 1 with only 1 set of low gears. As for the crossmember I have 2, 1 hi-crossmember in the normal posi and another 1 that bolts to the rear t-case bolt pattern on the rear t-case, no probs and I jump the crapper out of the MAV.

cheezy i wish i had thought of airshift - i even have rams lying around at work. but its done now, albeit the hard way.
1/160 sounds good! i will get a set of gears when this obc thing blows over
do you have a body lift - how does your high cross member fit, and why dosen't it hit the selectors etc.
thanks mate
