Does any one know about a 1Hz or 1HD-T into a 40 series currently with 3B. Size, gbox, cooling . .

Why not go to a bigger B series motor? They will nearly bolt in and can make more power/torque than a 1HDT.

Dave Tay ("beanz" on this board) has done that kind of swap. if you're going to do it you really need to get the engine and gearbox together. What Steve says is good advice, try and get hold of a 14/15B-T then it will be a near bolt in with potential for more power and torque than the HZ/HD motors. the B's are bulletproof and may cost more to buy in the first place but the cost of the conversion with the 6 cylinder motor will make the *B cheaper in the long run.

This may or may not interest you, an dI am far from a Toyota diesel guru, but there are also exhaust braked versions of the 14/15BT, and there is an available automatic for 14BT series motors. Personally, the combination of BT bottom end torque, and exhaust brake and an auto would be very sweet, and something I have considered for the G if the motor in it ever dies.

I thought the 14/15B was a Daihatsu engine used in Daihatsu/Toyota trucks.

a 97 model 14B engine is worth $3000, with all accessories, and will bolt right in. the thing will pull like a 12 year old boy, although for about 1500 more you could get the turbo motor.

To swap to a 1Hz you would have to look at running the smaller R150 5speed as it is part time 4x4, you will need to change ALL the mounts, get a hydrulic clutch. and if in a swb, you have have problems with the lenght of the overall combo. Due to the room that is under the 40s it is an easy conversion, I know of one that was done about 2 years ago and the owner was charged 8000 drive in drive out. He then spent another 2 gorilla biscuits turboing the 1hz.

I personally would run with the 14-15b engine.

No, they are toyota engine. they are found in both trucks. the 'B' engine in the daihatsu is similar to the toyotas but have a different timing cover set up and water pump system. the motors are interchangable the parts are not. Alot of people get them confused witht he early DL and DG daihatsu motors which have no common link to the 'B' except for they are both found in trucks.

just saw in the trading post 14b reco engines $3630 2h $4345 1hz $4785 and 1hdt $5632 all engines are reco. the place is called yamato and ph no is 133803
