Hey all, this was given to me and asked to post up. My appologies for it being so long.

Subject: Matthew Coley

This is from the brother of the man that was hit on his bike last week on
Kelvin Grove Road..... Please circulate.
Dearest Friends,

This is one of the most difficult things that I have ever tried to put into
words to request fellow humans for help... Please take the time to read
this - it's not just another mass-distributed world-wide email, but an
honest, sincere, desperate plea for help and information on the matter at
hand.

As some of you may know, my brother-in-law was hit by a car last Monday
night, 16th August 2004, whilst riding home from uni at about 8.30pm on
Kelvin Grove Rd near the KFC on the corner of Park St, Kelvin Grove. His
name is Matthew Coley, husband to my sister Samantha, father of two
sensational boys, Aidan, 4, and Ethan, 2. He works full-time for Suncorp in
Brisbane and is studying part-time. They live in Ashgrove and are trying to
renovate their house.

After he was hit, the driver of the vehicle just drove off and left him for
dead.

After the incident, the story was picked up by the TV and radio news
stations for a day or two but nothing further. And since then, there has
been no further help from the police.

I know there are many other tragedies in this world, but right now our
family is suffering, especially his wife and kids. Ethan, the youngest,
wakes up many times throughout the night screaming and crying for his
daddy. It's quite haunting and tragic to be involved in.

His parents have flown out from England to be with Samantha and visit
Matthew in hospital. He is still in intensive care and still in a coma.

Seeing him in hospital with tubes and wires from every part of his upper
body, a swollen head, cuts and bruises is absolutely devastating. Some of
his injuries are external and will heal, but there is a very real
possibility that he will have permanent brain damage after he wakes up - at
least another 6-8 months in hospital up to possibly 2 years of
rehabilitation where he'll have to re-learn the most basic of functions
like walking.

As some of you are parents, husbands and wives yourselves, you must be able
to understand the horror of this tragedy. The aim of this email is to
increase awareness of the situation to try and catch the driver of the
vehicle that was involved.

If anyone out there knows anything at all, any little clue that may provide
the police with a new lead, please call the Crime Stoppers Number or the
police.

There was an eye-witness to the incident but they were only able to pick
out the type and colour of the vehicle, no number plate. The vehicle was a
late model Toyota Landcruiser, dark silver or grey in colour. There must
have been some major damage to the vehicle. SOMEONE MUST KNOW SOMETHING!

Please pass this email on to your friends and family and work colleagues if
you have some time today and hopefully we can get some closure on this
issue.

Thank you for your time and support.

it was a 100 series. i got hit by a car last year whilst riding my bike home from uni and was left unconcious in the middle of the road with a severe concussion and a broken arm. just glad i was wearing a helmet cause it had a massive hole in it on the right temple area. theworst bit was that there was a bus stop full of people right where i got hit and nobody left names as witnesses or anything. unbeliveable. nearly got hit again yeserday by some chick who didnt even look at a roundabout, only realised i was there when i started going off at her a meter from her window. bitch.

some people are bloody awful, i was in a car accident last week (hit from behind) the witness's were more worried about the dick that hit me than anybody eles, they didn't even check to see if the guy who hit the front of my car (after i was pushed in front of him) was alright before he went off to hospital. I don't think they have the brains to see who's in the wrong, can,t think of anyone who i'd wont to report more than a hit run driver.

I saw a guy on a bike hit a truck near the city a few months ago in Brisbane (and yes, he hit the truck, and he didn't come off best at all!)

I was the only one that stopped, in fact I got abused by other drivers that just drove around the guy laying on the ground. In the time it took to get him away from traffic (we didn't move him, the paramedics did), people driving by and staring almost caused another 2 accidents.

I am still under the belief that a large proportion of the population are idiots.

Yea, I go to QUT as well and that email was forwarded to everyone, it is sad and I hope they catch the idiot (not going to assume gender) and I also hope that the guy turns out ok... but it doesn't look that way.
