I believe it's an import, like the ad says.
It's a 1988 turbo diesel with the limited/special edition gold on black trim.

yeah, but if its a good price, it suits me well enough for the moment!
the issues with the alternator, oil leak and smokey start up, do they seem major at all?

When I bought mine it smoke like hell (1 litre of oil every 750km)
Then again my work hack (datsun 720) coughs out heaps of smoke on start up but doesn't use any oil at all.
I'd get a leak down test done before I bought it.
Then talk it down heaps.
Cheers

stay away from it. the early 2.4 engines are plagued with problems and it's almost a given that you will get grief from it.

thanks man, thats what i was after.
now, i'm looking at an 85 this arvo. is there a way if i get an 85 model, to soften the ride, yet keep the advantages of solid axle (better traction and travel)?

will have the same motor (sans turbo of course if it is a local one) and the same thing applies to the motor, the early 2.4's are weak especially in the bottom end and unless it has had religious maintenance and fresh big end bearings at 100 - 120,000km, you will likeyl get grief especially if you work it haqrd and/or turbo it.
as for getting the solid axle suspension to work, it is limited only by the amount of time and money you throw at it. if you're after a bolt on solution, any aftermarket spring and shock package will improve the ride and off road performance, if you want to get more exotic, well there are guys on this board who have done it and are more qualified than I am to talk about it!

With 6k u can pick up a clean V8 40 series. Lots more fun without the typical 2.4 diesel engine problems. Thats the way I'd go but each to their own.
