Hi all - I have a GQ TD42 diesel with a standard exhuast pipe. What I want to know is, what's the best size of exhaust pipe for this motor ?
I've been told that a 2 & 1/2 inch is good, but someone said 3 inch is better. Some wisdom on this matter would be great

cheers, Michael

2 and half will give you more low down i believe..
and 3 inch will give you more up in the higher rpm range.

what do you want from the car? More bottom end, or more top end?
What do you want the car for - towing, 4bing, family car etc?? more info will make easier to assist u.
2.5 I reckon is good.

If it is a non-turbo, 2.5" would be the way to go. Then if you want to fit a turbo later on and the exhaust is still in good nick, it will be big enough.
But if it is a turbo TD42 then I would go the 3" straight thru with only a small resonator/ muffler thing.

I saw a comp GQ shorty with the exhaust through the cab and out the roof. well sure it would be nice and warm but what about keeping the rain out? or did they just silicone around the pipe?
