80 series part time kits

just want to know if anyone has fitted a parttime kit
to a 80 before? If so how'd you find it to fit the kit?
How long did it take?

well i fitted the part-time kit the best thing
ive done. i highly recommend it
. totally differant car to drive now.

Ive put a DX transfer in my GXL...same thing i suppose....lighter steering, less wear on front end, small decrease in consumption, increase in power yada yada.
Best thing is less vibration from front driveshaft.
Now bad things are worserer handling on marbles, snow, dirty feet if u dont lock the hubs in...(remember those days) braking can get rear end happy easier....
So, 50/50 here...miss the low range constant 4wd reversing trailers on the road, dont miss the c/v wear/driveshaft vibs u get with lifted 80's.

Just got my 80 back from 5 inch supension lift. Steers just as good as before if not better. However geting vibrations from front shaft.
Where is the best place to get conversion around brisbane and how much.
Also, would a cardinal joint help or remove vibration?

D/C will help with vibs, budget $600 for the purchase of the kit from Marks 4wd plus fitting.

i got my kit through superior engineering.
the kit can be fitted in my garage for a
small fee
i noticed the braking
sunday arvo on the freeway when this
idiot braked for no reason the arse got
a little tail happy. but its worth doing.

Andrew,
I also have a part time kit from Superior but it is not installed yet. Do you lose Low Range 4WD or High Range 4WD with the kit? I had a part time kit installed in a full time Chevrolet Blazer before (it is like your Holden Suburban but SWB) and it was either High 2WD or Lo 4WD.
My other option is to install a part time HF1A transfer, which I hope to receive soon (right, John? LOL)

The DX 80 partime transfer has a shorter output shaft so if its retrofitted into a fulltime 80 a longer rear driveshaft is needed. Both my 80's have the partime kit fitted and it was the best thing i done.

dave you dont lose anything only the drive
from the front half of the transfer case until
you lock the hubs in and press the centre diff
lock button on the dash to engage 4wd.

With a fulltime, you can pull a plug off a switch and it becomes completely manual locking via dash...put it in low and you get low range constant 4wd, good for slowly moving the caravan without ripping up the turf.
With the part time, i need to do this in 2wd low range, so i loose some traction, easpecially if the van is on the bullbar and i am reversing.
My auto and part time dx transfer combined, ended up being just the right length for a manual rear tailshaft (auto is +60mm to manual, part time is minus 45mm to constant transfer....

Our 80 series here only have the viscous coupling after 1993 (HF2AV transfer) Is the non viscous full time transfer (HF2A) the same length as the viscous coupled HF2AV?
Propeller shaft length is no problem as this drivetrain is being swapped into an HJ75 troopie and they need to be resized anyhow. I have a DX package part time transfer still waiting shipment in WA, but the drivetrain that I have on hand (1HD-T/H151F 5 speed/full time transfer) is being swapped in. Should I wait until I get the part time transfer before having the propeller shafts made?

Your viscous is longer again than the hf2a, so running the part time will need a tailshaft about 90mm longer than the one needed for the v/c.

did it just bolt in or was there a mod or two to do. any particular year model lux transfer case or are they all the same.
