get stronger ones :finger:

i think cheezy does some heavy duty engine mounts than improve driveline angle in a SWB mav or patrol.

give him a call on 97618111, unless he has changed his phone number on shop relocation

I had the same problem. Is it petrol or diesel. If its petrol drill the little hole out in the chassis that locates the mount, then with the top broken part of the mount bash the bolt out. Drill a hole straight thru the mount so you can put a bolt thru the chassis, thru the mount, thru the top plate & bolt it up. Don't try it on a diesel, too much vibration. Also I bought some genuine mounts with the diesel and have not had a problem. Mine a 2 bolt 89 model. Aftermarket somes seemed to be crap.

Weird, really weird. I replaced a broken engine mount in the RB30 on Thursday night, log on today and there are posts re engine mounts. Are you guys spying on me?

I'm not paranoid, I know they're out to get me.

I broke a brand new one in 2 weeks, so just put a bodymount in there with a bolt through it, been there 4 years now, no problems and I GIVE IT HEAPS. :D

common for left side to break esp on 2 bolt.
Engine lifts under torque and stretches mount.
4 bolt normally have a built in stop in the mount assy.
Even more susceptible if gearbox packers fitted.
Put a wrap plate on 2 bolt.

4 bolt mount was for diesels only AFAIK, and also requires the 4 bolt brackets on the chassis & motor. Motor mount brackets for petrol & diesel may be the same too.

Petrols used the 4 bolt too after about 1991/92 on some.

Not interchangeable easy.

You can tell, just look at number od bolts to chassis mount.

mine is the 4 bolt mount but the spares guy wouldnt believe me till i actually pulled my mount out and showed him.. he said they were only listed for later yr models... have i got a car later than my plates or is this nissans inconsistancies in same parts same year models (such as diff ratios) all over again??

i make a 3rd mount, like a little link with bushes at each end, from a mount that bolts to the crane point on the pass side of engine to a mount on top of the pass side chassis rail. even holds the motor tight upside down.

Stick with the genuine factory engine mounts, the aftermarket ones just don't stack up to a genuine one. Too hard, brittle, but yes, cheaper.

I just looked under my bonnet for No's for insurance and the left mount caught my eye. The top is sittibg about an inch clear of the bottom. Mines a 88 mav petrol. Must be the season for bustin these Drive side looks suss too

Should i replace with new genuine ($190 ea) then drill chassie or just use the old ones

Nice dig, although i think if they haven't got their engine mounts sorted by now - they'll never do it anyway.

Maybe you should have a shot at putting your engine mounts in the classifieds section? Might get more hits in there. ;)
