Are my valve springs toast?

I've had a rebuilt commo V6 sitting under the house for over a year now. I have only turned it over a handful of times whilst tinkering. One of the guys mentioned the other day the the valve springs might be stuffed from being compressed all this time. What is the likelyhood of this being true. And if so if I run it as is am I gonna burn my valves out or worse?

run a compression test on the cylinder,
or take off the rocker cover and check the clearances ofter turnong it over a few times,
if it's rebuilt and not had muck work done, it should be rite

I doubt you'll have a problem.
I recently rebuilt a '62 Buick V8 that hadn't been run in at least 10 years, all the springs were within spec when it came apart.
does the commodore V6 run hydraulic lifters?
