bodylift woes

i've done my body lift now....
but it's squeaking now and driving me crazy!!
wats wrong??

bolts too thin for hole in body blocks (holes to large?) allowing them to shift slightly? Bolts not tight enough?

i think you either need to do the bolts up tighter or fit rubber (thin) between the top of the blocks and the body.

after you put the b/l in, and tighten them up, you should go for a drive, and let the mounts settle in, and then retighten them. but not too much.
i checked mine everyday for a week, due to the sqeakiness of the mounts.
1st problem i had, was doing it in the first place,
2nd, the bolts/studs were too small for the mounting holes on the chassis, allowing for them to move around,
3rd, the washers i used were way too small and not strong enough, so i made some big a$$ washers with 3mm flat bar.
now it doesn't make much noise on road, or on the flat, but when it comes to hills, and angles, it sqeaks a bit, but i think it was just the way i did mine.

Removed any factory rubber isolators?

Are you sure it is the bodylift? Not anything else maybe. Is there enough clearance around the gear stick and t/case shifter, could be rubbing on body work. Is the shroud for the radiator touching anything, steering shaft touching the body, exhaust etc lots of components that can be affected by a bodylift so check clearances for other parts and the body. How much of a lift did you do, 2 or 3"?

it could also be tiny rocks from mud/gravel roads wedged/jammed between a coil spring and it's seat on the diff.
or, you could take your doors off, drive around, and hang your head out the door to see if you can find the sqeaking.... my mate did that in his sierra.... so even if it sound stupid, i didnt make it up.

thankx guys, i'm gunna try bigger bolts and larger blocks, the r only 50mm nylon(black stuff) the guy said it was the rite stuff,
i know i did machine out the center holes too big,
time to scrap and try agian,

at your workshop this saturday justin, i wanna do my lift, cam wants to do the lift on his jeep and you can fix yours up. see if we can get the workshop free all day saturday.

What about putting some brass (or similar) bushes/tube in them. Drill it out further to suit. QLD transport prefer a metal tube in them anyway if u using polyurethane so don't bin them just yet. Might cost you $10 for a bit of tube with the right internal diamater.
Of course if it's bolts only not captive nut or stud arrangement you could always just use bigger bolts......
