Starting a long siting 2.3 TD

I just bought a mitsu pick up with the 2.3 TD may have a crack in the head or just needs a new head gasket but after i take care of that problem i would like to get it start it up but its been siting for 4 years am i just gonna have to rebuilt the engine?? Also i'd like to add innercooler to it is there a kit I may buy for this or am i just gonna have to bust out with some custom fab action?

try turningit by hand !!!!
if it turns , do at least 2 full revolutions !!!!!
make sure it aint gunna jam !!!!!
even possibly pull out glowplugs & put some type of lube in bores !!!!!
if it turns freely , hook up the battery & try & start the sucker !!!!!!!!
as for intercooler

Hey Lordy, If you wanna turn that sucker by hand you are probably gonna have to pull the glow plugs. Remember your average diesel has a hell of a lot more compression than a petrol motor. Thats how they fire after all.
