$8000 mate you'll probably be able to get a fairly good GQ. Which were made between 1988 and i think 1999? They have either Petrol engines, 4.2 litres hence the start of the engine number, "TB42", or a diesel which would be a "TD42" Good rigs mate i brought a GQ shorty with a petrol last year for 6 grand and it wasnt a bad beast. Bullbar, 4wheel discs, gas, 5spd. i built it up to a bit of a weapon and now iv'e got a GQ wagon diesel which is a real weapon!

Chris, The GQ patrols are a really fantastic truck. I've got an 88' GQ Patrol wagon long wheel base, it has 4.2ltr Diesel and it has now done 440,000k's. The only mechanical work it has had is injectors and about a month ago I had the front all rebuilt as it was leaking a little bit of oil, and a set of brake rotors and pads, it is still running the original clutch! I jacked it up by five inches (three inch springs and two inch body lift) and it cost me roughly $550 to do the lot. They're cheap to modify and very popular which means if you keep up with what happens on this site you can get anything you want for them pretty cheap second hand. Couldn't recomend them enough and you could get a pretty good one for $8k. :D :D

I think the last of the GQ's was 1998, pretty sure my dad's GU is a 1999.

Look for cracks in the front fire wall and rust in the rear sliding windows for LWB jobs.

The RB30 3 Litre is Carby not EFI.

it doesnt sound too bad, but if you go look at it, look for the usual things like runst in the front radiator supports, around the rear wheel arches, in the roof, and floors,

but if it turns out to be okay, always haggle with the price,
