What size tyres will fit with what lift???

Hi everyone,
I have had a look around the forums for this topic but haven't really found anything concrete so I hope I am not repeating someone else...
I am currently trying to decide what size tyres to get for my GQ SWB. I already have a 3 inch spring lift in it (actually raised it only 70mm) with 31 inch tyres.
My question is what will I have to do to fit bigger tyres? I am mainly looking at 33's but if 35's will fit with not too much effort I will probably get them... I am willing to chop my guards a bit if will mean I won't have to lift it too high...
Will 33's fit with just a guard chop?
Will 35's fit with a guard chop and a 2 inch body lift?
Your personal experiences are much appreciated...

you should be able to get 33's under no dramas, 3" sus lift works out to 75mm, so 70mm aint that bad,
it has been stated before, that with 3" springs and guard chop you will be able to fit 35's there will be more opinions posted later,
where about in sydney are you?

Will the tyres rub much at full articulation?
I had a friends 32 inch BFG Muddies on for a little bit and they scrubbed a bit during high speed bottom outs on Stockton beach so I was a little unsure about stick 33's straight on there... I can't specifically remember them rubbing when rock crawling though...

i have 33" MTR's on my GQ, altought i have 6" spring lift, i get some rubbage, will try and get pics tomorrow to demonstrate at full flex

I have 33's with 6inch lift+body lift, they still hit on chassis on full articulation.

mine a fairly equal on both sides which is odd but flexes well so not complaining, till i can afford to chop the guards

Do you guys have most of your rubbing on the chassis (inside upper edge of tyre) or the guards (front and rear of tyre)? Or elsewhere???

Is it much to worry about? I assume there isn't enough pressure to hinder forward movement or you guys would be complaining a bit more

again if cops want to be assholes, they can nail you for it. tires hitting is a no no apparently.

indeed they can nail you for it, but a can of black paint covers that up pretty quick,
no it does not stop forward movement, although i can feel it slowing me down

Small tyres and shitloads of guard room? More room for wheels to be jammed up into wheel archs i suppose...... but there's nothin like a 35 for mud and rock ledges....

Not all of us have money trees mister, gotta wear out what youve got, and ya gotta buy what ya can afford, i was lucky i got the MTR's at the price i did, other wise id still be on 31's, one other thing, i dont have room to squeeze 35's in there at the moment withou guard cut or body lift, especially at full flex

Thanks for those pics Ozy...
I think I might stick in a 2-3 inch body lift and get 33's to begin with, and then see if I will need to chop anything.

if your gunna go with the 33's, get them first, then decide weather or not, you "NEED" the body lift,

3inch lift will do a set of 33s with no body lift.

I'm in the same boat as Muzza, and i've searched all the threads on lift & tyres here. Its very hard to find a straight answer to a post, though I guess everyone has different rigs.
But, from what's been posted, 33X12.5's will fit a LWB GQ with 2-3 inches of lift as long as the rims have a positive (Yota) offset, and flares, mud flaps arent cherished?
If so is this what rims do you have Ozy as it looks at though there isnt much room to move things around in your pics?

Rims are 15x8 ROH with cruiser offset, i have 6" spring lift, and tyres are very tight in them, with some trimming, or body lift, i reakon i could do 35's with ease,
i also had to remove some flare and cant run guard mounted mud flaps either, as i will loos them

G'day guys....
this post if freekin me a bit cause I was only today told by a well recommended 4by joint that I'd only need a 4 inch spring lift to fit 35's....nuffin in the body?
BTW.....I'm hopefully picking my first Patrol next week!!!

Boopa, we may have to welcome you to the club of patrol owners, are you looking at gettin a GQ? its odd, just have a chat with other GQ owners and see what experiences they have had, this is just my experience

Why are you freaking out? 4inch lift will piss in 35s.
Daves dad runs 36's with 3in lift and guard trim..
I have miles of clearance with my 4in lift with 33's 35s would be a walk in park.
