Starter motor problems

My starter motor finally died last nite. It sounds like ithe teeth arent catching. Any one know wot goes wrong wif them, RAC fella said i need a new one.

you sure its not the flywheel thats worn? By the way supercheap does starters for $59 and apparently their not bad.

how do u tell, the RAC fella seemed to think it wsnt the fly wheel

starters, just like alternators, hate mud..dirt in starter is most likely the problem.....mine was rebuilt for $110 with me doing removal and refit..others have paid much more...the teeth don't engage properly, cause the starter dont fly out far enough. christover

Mine went dodgy.
Bought a new one.
pulled the old one apart... cleaned.... reassembled... No problem!
Doh!

mine has got the grind noise happening everytime i start it now, so i'm gonna hopefully pull it off tomorrow and tidy it it and hopefully that'll fix it
