Hi guys

I have had a WT sierra for the last year with 31" muddies and a 2" body lift. Its been awesome fun driving it. I now want to go bigger and better. But a bit confused on which way to go. First thing on my list would have to be a series 3 rockhopper because at the moment low range gearing is farked.

But what after that, I want bigger tyres and better suspension. I dont know if i should do a SPOA with standard springs, upgraded front and rear shock mounts and long shocks. What tyres could i fit with this setup?

Or should i go the chassis extension and RUF's. shock mounts, shocks etc. What size tyres can I fit with this setup, take into count i dont mind doing a bit of cutting, panel beating. This rig is a weekend fun machine.

I got some rear wheel bearings/ seals to change so im going to weld the rear diff when i do that.

Thanks

Jason

I'd say that you're right...gearing is the most important.

However lockers before bigger tyres. 31"s are enough for most stuff in a locked Zook, and going to give you way more performance than another inch or so or clearance under your diffs.

Of course you dont say that you havent got lockers... but you dont say you have them either.

gearing and welded diff sound like a very good start. maybe an air locker up front as well as the RUF and some other suspension tweaks, then down the track get some bigger tyres  that's my plan ATM anyway.

spoa and 2" body lift you can run WAY bigger tyres than your axles will handle :) Like 35 - 37 with a bit of guard cutting :?

Weld the rear and gear it and that will be heaps for a while :) It'll go a long way like that.

Then when you can drive further than that'll take you lock the front. Then think about cutting your guards for larger tyres after that but IMO 33's would be a safeish limit on zook axles in the dry conditions I imagine Darwin to have ;)

spoa on standard springs nothing wrong with that , i used to run spoa with 2"lifted springs and longer shocks extended towers etc and flex was not much good , i than put those axles under my next zook but on standard springs and shocks and it flexes really well .

Just weld the rear and throw some coin at a series 3

Then once you have gotten used to being geared and locked adress your suspension and tyres.

But if he welds the rear won't he have the same probs as you?
Will a detroit or similar solve this prob?

I don't think he will have the same problem, it only happened for me when I went 2 34's

Time will tell once the diff is rebuilt.

Keep the COG low, 2" body lift, weld the rear, fit extended shackles then look at tyres later on when you have worked out what sort of terrain you want to drive.
