how heavy is a vitara? i havent had a chance to weigh mine yet.

i put vitara rear springs in front (experiment!) and the front didnt even know they were there (sitting on bumpstops)

put new corolla front coils in front of vitara, same thing, bumpstops.

now, i got new 31" MT/Rs, aired them down to 12psi (i think?) and they didnt bag as well on rocks and stuff. so wtf?

could this be the tyre having to stiffer sidewalls for the vitara?

???

it rides sweet at this pressure, i had rear down to 10, and same, no bagging, just a bit of bulging, as if it were 20psi.

the tracks made by the tyres on softer parts of gravel roads, look as if they were at 30psi. i thought maybe there would be a heaps wider foot print, with maybe some sidewall touching on the road as well....

the small things get to me, and also make me look like an idiot.

bloody sh!t.......... :)

Ive heard that the tyres have to soften up a bit. As in they will be stiff when new, and will bag better with km under their belt.

Many radial tyres elongate their tread pattern before they start to bag out widthways.
Excuse ASCII art eg contact patch goes from (x) to (xxx) front of car is ->

I regularly ran my geos at 12psi on the road without airing them up to come home with no issues....

It's a light car (stock weight is about 1025kg for Softy so it's almost the same as a sierra despite the extra size).

I guess that alloy front diff and alloy block counteract most of the other weight.

Wouldn't run much lower though...

Normally for street use I was running about 18-22psi on my 31"s whether BFG or Geolanders.
