Does anyone know where this dodgy bloke went?

He seemed really keen to get into things, then the last I heard he was working in the bush. Haven't heard were he's at in ages.

Last thing I heard he was doing crappy hours and doesn't have a pc at home and not in the office much.

His mate is Drew of this board who has also dissappeared for a while.

Still need to build roll cage, snorkel, stronger t/case mount, clutch & a few other bits that ill probably forget to do

Wolverine's zuk now has rego.
My transfer case is very broken ,3 out of 4 series 3 rockhopper gears destroyed, only 8 months old no warranty :bad-words: ,no gears available for 4 to 6 weeks.
looking at other options seems that rockhoppers are weaker than stock gears as my stock gears lasted 5 years no probs

why no warranty?, how old r the gears from date of purchase?.
when my series 1 blew up i got coverd out of warranty and up dated to the series 3 with the cash difference.

Yes it's true I am back. What a head F$@k the rego turned out to be.

I actually had the car pit passed about two months ago but that day the licensing centre was closed so I couldn't get the plates on and had to return to perth. Upon my next visit to register the vehicle I was told I had to have proof of purchase as the system had changed after the 1st july and stat decs were no longer accepted. Another trip wasted.
So I eventually got some transfer forms signed and when I went the next time I sat for 4 hours because the system was down and eventually could not get it done. Then the permit ran out. etc etc etc.

So I finally got it done today.

Hopefully soon......

guards will be cut for a "virtual lift", cj springs front and rear, 1lt case for some lower gearing and welded diffs. I have everything already just have to put it on.
Hopefully some grinder action will start tomorrow.

Drew.....are you sure you want to go to work!!!!!!

Well from the above pst I can't see him competing without a S3 RH.

Where and when is the night owl?

The nightowl is on Saturday 2nd, to Monday 4th October 2004,
Camp Keren Farm, Kirby Road West Bullsbrook.

You should go.

Anyway I have got a lot of catching up to do so here is the story so far.

Zuk is finally registered. It is an 86 narrow track hardtop with a gti engine and seats which I picked up for $800 unregistered. At the moment is running 30inch rubber on repacked leaves. All pretty much how I got it.

It has been cleaned up a bit since buying mainly to get it over the pits but still is cheap and nasty.

I Started chopping the guards today. Only had about 3 hours before work so it's not finished yet. Has to be trimmed and then welded together.

Was quite easy. Hopw do you put up pics. Hopefully rears finished tomorrow.

damn man, that sux!! any idea what caused it? have ya talked to liam 'bout seeing if he can sort warranty for ya?

Purchase date for the rockhoppers was 8 months ago,but i didn't get them delivered 4 about a month after that then another month or so before i got around to fitting them new bearings etc,so they have done maybe six months work.I bought them from grp or aaa whatever they were calling themselves but now there gone i called big balls Liam is not interested in warranting them because of the purchase date & told me they weren't warranting rockhopper gears & would not have any more in stock for 4 weeks.not happy
Now i have to look at other gearing options probably a 1litre trans case for night owl then maybe a hilux gearbox & trans case (at least marks gears have a 12 month warranty) but thats a PITA can't get the parts made in a week for nightowl.
_________
ps if someone could host the photos wolverine took pics of my broken gears.

Yeah i'll try make it up for the night owl. See how things go.

Good to hear the zooks coming along wolverine. If you need a hand with anything let me know and i'll come up when I have a spare minute.

Drew were you running a S3 or S1?
Eddie at 4x4usa does a good price on calmini gears and apparently they are pretty tough. Plus the added bonus he is local.
