HELP - toyota model numbers... wtf?!?!

Post by gurumon »

wtf model number is my 2000 xcab 2.7efi

i think i've narrowed it down to one of the following....

LN167, LN176, LN172, RZN169R

im assuming its based on the engine? or cab style? or some random combination of the moon and tides?

you can forget all the LN series engines cause thats diesel basicly

toyotas work like

The first letter is engine prefix - second is your chassis prefix - and then the numbers are the model numbers

eg

LN-46 - 2.2L Diesel Hilux

L series engine, N sereis frame - 46 is the model number

ST-184 2.2L Petrol Celica

S series engine, T series frame - 184 model number

Kinda - thats my way of defining it :?:

The 2.7 efi is the 3RZ-FE, so the model prefix begins with RZ
It is in the Hilux/4Runner line so the next digit is N
The next three digits are the body? suspension? 2wd/4wd? style - I'm not too sure on this.
The last letter before the hyphen is R for RHD
the first digit after the hyphen is C for Japanese built Extra cab, F for Thailand-built Extra cab (T for single cab, P for double cab, K for Thailand built single cab, J for Thailand double cab)
. . . (next few digits have to do with equipment, like tranny, and trim, like DX)
Last or next to last digit is Q for Aussie market vehicle,
If last digit is 1, it came as a chassis and windshield only, if the last digit is 3, it came as cab and chassis.

Better yet, like Pal said, look up the ID plate under the bonnet :)

I'm not referring to the digits following the "RZN", those digits I do not understand very well :) I'm referring to the very last digit on the build plate code. BTW, if the last digit is a letter, not a numeral, it was imported as a completely built up vehicle.
