Well picked up my LRA 146lt replacement fuel tank on monday and it is currently still sitting in the back of the car wrapped in bubble wrap.

So what sorta stuff do I need to fit.

Is it best to take that plate off that sits above the fuel tank under the carpet and take out the pump and sender first. Then unbolt tank put new tank in. Then put the pump and sender back in.

Is it this simple or is there something else I need to do, that will make it a pain in the arse.

Std price was $770.
But I got mine with some slight mods. Since I have a 50mm BL I had the brackets put in a different spot, I also had 3mm plate put on the bottom for a little extra strength. As my towbar is now sitting ontop of the chassie rails there isnt much protection.
So in the end I paid $890 and I picked it up from LRA in Lilydale.

well i took my long range tank in and out 3 times with a collapsed lung so i'm sure you'll manage.

Disconnect fuel lines etc first. Then drop the sucker and take everything off. :D easy. even a chimp like yourself should be able to manage it.

a handy tool for the job would be a sucker to hold it up in place while you insert the bolts. and for when it wont fit to pull it out , and in, and out, and in,and out..........................

its a Cookie of a job. the clearances are that minimal...

Its not hard, if I remember how it goes somethin like this.

Do it while its as MT as you dare.
Remove the inner guard thing on the fuel filler hose inside rear wheel arch
then you can get at hose easier - undo filler hose and breather hose. (Cookie to get back on btw)

remove the plate on the floor in the back storage area - try and undo as much wiring as you can at this point thru hole, it can be done after you unbolt the tank, but its a FUCKIN AWKWARD FUCKER.

Stick trolley jack under tank

undo 6 bolts. tank drops - you can make sure here if there are any hoses/breathers/filler hose etc left done up, undo em.

Put bandaids on 10 Knuckles.

you will see how it came out how it goes back in.

then sell STD tank to Hilux driver, they love em!

Normally leave you sender in until you remove tank.
Then put in new tank.
Still need to remove floor plate to get to hoses and wire connections.
Check 1st that floof hole is in alignment with new tank. Some have been in wrong spot.

As Bruce said, TIGHT fit. Get new fuel and return hose and good quality hose clamps.

Tank may have to go up at an angle to clear filler to chassis.
Also mount brackets may need clearancing fo fit mounts under floor.
I use a trolley jack and my wife, Cazzle, to balance tanl on jack whilst I pull hoses etc.
OE steel pipes run in a couple of diffent places on some. Check they are in correct spot with trial fit. I have had to trim a few to top of spring tower and run new rubber hose to there to stop kinks. Main line to engine MUST be as straights as possible, min bends.

Filler hose may also need shortening a bit. Hot water for hose and vaseline for hose fittings helps too.
