that is exactly what was wrong with mine it is now bolted to body but same wiring etc as standard i have only changed the horn under bonet for a new one nothing else it was fine till i shorted it out though
i tested the new horn it works .
Dose the standard horn have power to it all the time and earth out when you push button inside or dose it power up when you push button if that makes sence ? thanks again people able to help

The horn should always have power and earths through the steering wheel if has power to the horn try earthing it out to the body to see if it works

DAZ,
the horn may or may not be running through a relay.. the wiring diagram i just looked at had a relay in it..
you may have damaged it when you shorted the horn out.. find it and make sure the 12 volts it getting to it..
there should be other circuits running off the fuse that just blew.. make sure these work now you have replaced the fuse..

only option would be to either do another wiring run... or try and trace the horn wire back to find where it goes...
