I'm not sure what one would be the best type but Warn recommend not to use synthetic rope on low mounts due to heat from the internal brake affecting the lifespan of the rope and the winch.

My brother sells a synthetic rope at his workshop which the manufacturers claim will tolerate and not breakdown due to the heat generated by a low mount. Birdy and us both use it on our trucks but we have high mounts (wasnt used at the Alpine, the reason i say this is because we snapped our rope twice, plasma ). Call him if you want more info. 9331 6536 ask for Andrew.

plasma 12 strand is a good type of rope
the whole warn thing about the winch overheating was based on the scenario of the vehicle being lowered backwards down a hill bit by bit by letting the winch out (similar to abseiling) and how many times do you do that???

What winch is it going on? Some of the brawn winches have external brake and are low mount.
