Hey all

This is going to be a mother of a thread – so if it gets boring, sorry ;)

Anyway, as you are probably aware, I own a 1985 Bundera LX. I was very close to getting it on the road this week, but sort of lost contact with someone and had trouble getting a RWC (mates rates type RWC – if you know what I mean).

If you want to know why I couldn’t get one – 4x tyres worn (I can’t justify buying 4 even worn tyres cause I am buying big tyres soon), oil leak (rear main), windscreen, some rust..

So now the car is de-registered. I have a 2 month plan to fix / modify it.

What I want to do is:

- lift up the car 2” or so (if I go bigger, might need custom springs, or I can go the hack and use 80 Series springs and modify my shock mounts so I don’t break shocks as some people have already said. This is my preferred option as I can get 4” lift)
- Fit 35” Mudders
- Fix all problems and get it RWC and Registered again

I have heard many stories that if I fit bigger tyres, I will need to change my diff ratios, and also may break a few CV’s.

I want to keep the motor fairly stock – as I will probably change it to something bigger and better one day.

Will the car be very tippy with 4” or so of lift and 35” tyres?

I live in Victoria, so am wondering what are the best 35” tyres for my location? Will be doing mud, sand and rocks. (The rim size will be 15x8).

I am sure there will be more to come

to start with you probly wont get rwc with 35" tyres and 4" lift unless you get an engineers certificte as well

yes I know that, I will probably borrow 31" tyres and keep it standard height just to get RWC...

but will have the parts to change as soon as its reged ;)

With my Dad's GQ, he is using his 31" Desert Duellers as road tyres, cos they are nearly brand new (yes they look like skateboard wheels now it has the lift) and he's getting some dedicated offroad tyres in the 35-36" range i.e. Q78 Swampers, Claws

for 35's i would go centipedes, they are only 10.5 wide though but price is pretty good and performance is excellent.
not if you do a lot of road miles though, if so the bfg muds are pretty good.
