Wanderer, turbo diesel vits are available in NZ and most probably in Japan as that is where almost all of NZ's car come from. They are also rebadged over there as a Mazda something for some very strange reason!
I think they are either 1.8 or 2 litre turbo diesels. They are recognisable by the bonnet scoop above the intercooler.

"Additionally, they are also given the choice of the 2.0 4 cylinder intercooled turbo diesel in any of the models."

Over here the VW diesel is the only 4cly Diesel that is easy to find that's why we use it. The parts are easy to get also.

The early Vitara diesels were available in Japan and used a Mazda engine but the GV has Peugot/Citroen common rail intercooled turbo diesel engine and I think there was another engine used in some of the earlier European Vitara's.
