does it have a trailer plug? if so is the trailer plug full of mud?

do you ahve anything else running off the headlight fuse - underbody rock lights, spot lights etc?

the trailer plug is full of mud but ive pulled it apart and separated each wire and taped it up. as far as i know there isnt anything else running of the parkers. my headlights, brake lights and indicators work. thanks anyway for the help. i guess its out with the wallet on to the auto elecs

all else I can suggest is mud etc in the tail lights or parkers themselves.

what I would do next is:

-get a multimeter. a $20 k-mart one will do.
-pull out *all* the lights that run off the parker fuse, ie tail lights and parkers.
-replace the fuse with the multimeter, ie pull the fuse out, set the meter to its highest amp range (10+ amps on a decent meter, more likely 2 amps on a cheapie)
-quickly cycle the parking light switch and watch the meter. (one second on maX)
-if the meter reads any current then you have an earth leak, ie a wire has rubbed through against the chassis somewhere - start hunting, use the meter to test for continuity between the +ve side of the parking light globe holders, and the chassis.
- if the meter does not read any current, then the problem is with one or more of your globes. start replacing the globes one at a time, with the switch ON, and see what happens.

I'd do all that before taking it to an auto electrician, he will troubleshoot it similarly anyway.

good luck.
