Break Down Of Tim Hardy's Axles

After some searching, the way I understand them is that they are:

Front:
Factory front housing using rear axles and standard cv's with subaru birf rings The 3rd member has had the side gears swapped with rears to accept the rear axle. 5:12 R&P

Rear:
Just a cut/modified Vtt rear with 5:12 R&P

What I am unsure of is that i've read that the front axles are rears, does this just mean that they have been cut to suit standard front length and joined to the factory front CV??

Does anybody know what work is required in modifying the third member to suit the rear side gears???

Sorry for taking the tech away from Grimbo's build thread :finger:

You could just use the rear side gears in a standard four pin hemi , or
rear arb hiary , or rear lockright with side couplers , or non coupler lockright with rear side gears, By what you have written I would say
In a guesstamation , he found a suby c/v that is slghtly larger and has
a larger internal spline in its star , he has used rear axles and cut the ends of and had the suby splines broched on the end of the zook rears ,
Follow

Or somthing far more sinister , Which I will only go into if you want the more outragous hypothisis ;) Could the housings be 8-10" wider :?:

The housing's definately haven't been widened.

And I'd say he has used subaru CV's as I was comparing my rears against my fronts and they are notably larger, unless they were machined down.

Thanks for the link Trial Jimny.

There just doesn't seem to be much tech on them???? Which I thought was weird.

The vitara rear centre has been modded to fit d44 side gears. On the ultimate adventure 03 dvd, they have a section which shows the break down.
