I did that on my GQ with the 16 inch alloy rims.

went from 265 to 285.

In theory.. it is from 31 to 32 inchs.

He wont notice much difference. thou its slightly.. i repeat slightly different in take offs and hill climbs, but nothing the car cant handle.

Braking and performance dont really suffer at all.

Tiny bit of improved fuel consumption due to a larger overall diameter of the tyre on highway trips.

Best part about it?? Bigger is better., they'll look meatier than the 265s :twisted:

Also an improved offroad drivability due to the effectiveness of larger tyres.

I run 285/75/16 from day one and can not compare,but most people with standard tyres complain about speedo and odo error.
If you fit 285/75/16 speedo and odo will be very close if not 100% accurate.
285/75/16 is closer to 33" BTW

285/75/16
works out to be 33.7 but will vary in actual size from brand to brand

Incorrect

using this calculator . . . http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearmetric.htm

final answer worked out to be... 32.8 and 11.2 wide.

I ran 285/75/16 tyres on my Gu 4.2TD patrol for every day use, touring and 4wdriving. The speedo was near perferct and no noticable power loss.

Slightly lower revs than stock tyres for cruisong, and better clearance in the bush.

I ran 34x10.5x16 Simex JT2's for the mud, the 34's meant I had to drop back to fourth on the hills, but in lowrange did not make a huge difference.
