Defender panhard rod ?
Hi guys, just a question. it might sound stupid, on the front end of a defender will one wheel have more travle then the other ie, passengers more then drivers? is this to do with the panhard rod on the front being kept standard with my 3 inch lift? should my panhard rod be longer? if so anyone make a new stronger one to suit?

the advantage of a longer or adjustable panhard rod is that when you lift the front end of a pootrol, land(fill)cruiser or mighty rover the axle becomes off centre, as in not aligning with the rear axle.
think of the panhard rod as it drops, it moves in an ark(off centre)
now if you spring lift your truck probably more than 3" then the front wont line up with the rear, as in the front axle will have moved to one side.
you wont be able to 4 wheel align the vehicle.
some people don't mind this problen.
i found my defender would twist/wander on its axis when i was riding on the top of corrugations, severe braking would produce the same result, so would slippery mud(acceleration and braking)
the car was efectively crabbing.
i got a mate to align the front and he did a 4 wheel alignment just to check, he told me about the difference.
mine was only lifted 2", but it has made a difference.
i had allready replaced most of the bushes, chassis and suspension as a matter of maintenance.
hope this makes sense, rick130 or bill(daddylonglegs) will probably post tonight, they are well experianced with suspension cycling.
