G'day all,
does anyone know if it is possible to fit twin transfercases (like hilux's design) in 60 series Land Cruisers?
Anyone done it?

as far as i no it can not be done simple because of the design of the t-case.
See in a hilux the hi-low selection part is in the front of the 2 part case where in 40s, 60s t-case the high-low part is pretty much everywhere thou out the case (easy way to explain)
so i have never heard anyone do it being able to do it
but there are opions now called crawler cases
in this you stick a purpose built case between the gearbox and t-case of your cruises then you put hilux gears in to this case therefore giving you a duel t-case setup you and put the standered gears in 2.27 or the crawler gears such as 4.88 give you a hell of a big reduction.
hope this helps

83 Lux - I guess I would be limited too in the fact that Mine is an FJ73 (Runs a 3F and a 5 Speed) so I could not run Dual cases either.
I was looking at building a second RIG/POS and converting the current one to 2WD, in doing that I would have had a spare Transfer Case, exactly the same as the next rig i buy as it was to be the same model car.
I would have to look at gearing one of them down, or could i run two. I gues what your saying is that with the 40/60 series trannies, the second stick would be somewhere around the back seat almost?

the second case would only be good for spare
and not with the crawler case the second stick ends up in the middle between the 2 front seats

So making an adaptor to bolt the two trannies together isn't enough?

And this info is incorect anyway. It is simply 2 adapters to do this no purpose built case that needs gears fitted.
Simply remove the factory cryuiser Tcase bolt on one adapter then the reduction case from a hilux then the second adapter and finaly the cruiser Tcase again.
But keep in mind this only works for the early 1piece cruiser transfer not the split case.

Beg to differ Marlins toybox is available for the split case
but not the h55 five speed, only the 4 speed h41/42
Marlin has no plans to make the h55 toybox as the yank's
didn't get the 5 speed (very little demand)Pity
